Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) began in 2003 as a small, grassroots effort providing simple care and comfort items to the hospital bedsides of the first wounded service members returning home from the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. As their post-service needs evolved, so have our programs and services. Today, through our direct programs in mental health, career counseling, and long-term rehabilitative care, along with our advocacy efforts, we improve the lives of millions of warriors and their families.
This effort requires the passion and commitment of friends, supporters, and like-minded organizations that enable us to fulfill our mission. With their collaboration and support, we strive to ensure that when those who serve come home, they’re afforded every opportunity to be as successful as a civilian as they were in the military.

We are a foster based rescue and do not have a facility. The dogs in our care live in private homes with one of our fabulous foster families in and around the Pensacola area getting lots of TLC until they are adopted. Each dog is evaluated for placement in a home best suited to its needs and personality. At a minimum, every dog has a wellness checkup, is spayed/neutered, has age appropriate shots, is heartworm tested (if age appropriate), and microchipped with a lifetime registration. Dogs over 1 year of age receive a ProHeart 12 shot for heartworm prevention. We also do dentals, surgeries, and other treatments as needed. We adopt within a 1-6 hour drive to Pensacola. We do not ship or transport our dogs. Local applicants are given first consideration.

The legal system frequently presents challenges to our rights as parents, making it difficult to maintain our roles. Many men find themselves without a support network to share their experiences or seek advice during tough times. After more than a decade of advocating for his children, he continues to face emotional struggles as he navigate this journey.
